It was an Islamic competition of the Holy Quran for the classes from year1 to year 12 for both Arabs and Non-Arabs on 25th February 2019.This Competition brings out the best in Winchester’s students, as we felt so happy to see our students are able to recite Quran with Tajweed and correct Telawah (recitation of the Quran). Sheikh/ Idrees Isa, members of the Islamic Affairs Agency in Dubai, judged the competition, we can say that the students had shown enthusiasm and the spirit of the competitiveness was dominant throughout the competition. School has organized a lecture for our secondary and primary students in cooperation with a delegation from the General Authority and Islamic Affairs entitled the importance of Islamic values and their impact on our school reality. The attendance of secondary and primary students showed great interaction and enthusiasm by asking many questions and inquiries that witnessed also the interaction and welcome of the delegation of our honourable sheikhs. We would like to say that such events shape the culture of our students, affect their daily practices, and shed light on many issues that concern the students' reality We were elated to hold a virtual Arabic workshop for both Arabs and Non-Arabs. It was a very informative webinar taking about students’ different skills and sharing some supportive strategies, sources and opportunities to improve the students’ skills and provide some new methods for parents to help their children as well. We also provided parents with some different strategies on learning Arabic. In addition to focusing on the four skills and how to upgrade them gradually by supporting the students according to their abilities and needs
Arabic week programme was organized and executed successfully for all years, from Year 1 to Year 12, for both Arabs and Non- Arabs. It was a successful week, which enabled the students to develop their language skills and evaluate their own and others’ contributions through a range of activities. The parents appreciated the well-prepared activities. We also organized many competitions in and out of classes such as a writing competition, Reading competition, Arabic calligraphy, Arabic assembly, workshops and virtual trips where students achieved the best standard.

Sheikh/Ashraf Tony Abdul-Aziz, Imam of Nakheel mosque in Dubai, judged the competition, we can say that the students had shown enthusiasm and the spirit of the competitiveness was dominant throughout the competition.
We were elated at the Arabic workshop today morning for both Arabs and non-Arabs.
For Arabs, We enjoyed making fruitful discussion on Students’ different skills in Arabic and sharing some supportive strategies to improve the students’ skills in Arabic and provide some new methods for parents to help their children as well. For non-Arabs, Students were leading the workshop. We also provided parents with some different strategies for learning Arabic. In addition, how to support the students according to their abilities and needs. At the end of the workshop, they were happy with the fruitful discussion and attendance. We celebrated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and held assemblies about his ethics and good morals that we should follow to reach the best destination in this life and hereafter. Students -from year 1 to year 12- discussed the importance of being true Muslims and took a look at the story of the messenger of Mercy Muhammad (PBUH) along with His brothers of messengers such as Jesus (Isa), Mosa (Moses) and Abraham (Ibrahim). Students enjoyed watching videos, listening to the lecturers and raising questions and answering as well.
Islamic support classes are held for year 2-12 every Tuesday after school to guide and support students in reading and understanding of the Qur’an with rules of Telawah, and Islamic values. |
